Born in Stoke on Trent and spending some years studying Art at Longton College of Art Jo then went on to specialize in Ceramics at the Burslem College of Art.
In the 70's she moved down to Glastonbury and the beautiful countryside of Somerset, igniting her passion for painting and ceramics. Using her artistic skills she enjoyed hand-painting scenes of Somerset on her wide range of hand thrown stoneware.
Receiving a distinction for detailed nature drawing but feeling she needed to express herself more in paintings rather than reproducing detailed plant drawings she spent more time painting.
Initially doing mostly watercolour paintings and incorporating fine pen and ink work. Still loving this, at the moment she is producing Landscapes and Seascapes using acrylics and oils; occasionally working in pastels and coloured pencils for life drawing keeping her competent in painting the human form.
